WKZL (WS-Greensboro, NC) has suspended the Murphy in the Morning Show "indefinitely" as announced by station manager Bruce Wheeler pending an internal investigation concerning an on-air phone incident. Said incident took place on Thursday, 10-9-08 during the morning show. Anyone hear it? Meanwhile, Murph and crew are off the 1075kzl turf! :( NOTE- Greensboring.com has posted about the WKZL situation on their website. They were doing some phone stunt where people wrote in and made a case to contact their significant other by phone, on air, and propose. If the person accepted, the couple got $1000. If not, the caller pledged to end the relationship. So, some girl living with her boyfriend for 6 years makes the call, and he is clearly upset that he is put on the air to discuss this personal issue. He refused to say yes and was clearly disgruntled. (I will point out that, at the outset of the call, they identified themselves as radio station people -- I guess the guy could have hung up right away if he didn't want to be on the air.) After the guy hung up, listeners called in to trash him, everyone laughed heartily, etc. After another 30 minutes or so, the guy calls the station (again being put on air) and says he's contacted his lawyer and will take action. He complained he had not given permission to be broadcast and that it was a humiliating experience. He asked for the general manager's number, etc. They still gave him grief after that altho Murphy did apologize and pointed out that the guy's girlfriend actually asked that the call be made, via letter.
